Dr. Kimberly Dovin

Diagnosis, Disease Management, Prevention, and Procedures

Dr. Kimberly Dovin was born in rural Pennsylvania.  She attended Boston College, in Chestnut Hill, MA from 1992-1996.  Kim attended medical school at the University of Pittsburgh from 1997-2001 with a concentration in Women's Health.  Her residency from 2001-2004 was in Seattle, WA where she practiced at a Swedish Family Medicine Clinic her specialty being family medicine.
 
Dr. Dovin's medical interests, aside from family medicine, include women's health issues and preventative health.  Her professionals goals are "to improve my skills in addressing obesity and counseling patients to make positive changes toward better physical health."

Some of the hobbies that Kim enjoys are:  cooking, knitting, gardening, learning how to make bread and sewing.  Biking, hiking, skate skiing, speed walking, swimming, and snowshoeing are her favorite workout choices to stay healthy and fit.

Dr. Jeffrey Huotari

Diagnosis, Disease Management, Prevention, and Procedures

Dr. Jeffrey Huotari is originally from Cokato, MN.  He attended the University of Minnesota-College of Pharmacy.  Jeffrey obtained his medical degree from the University of Minnesota-Duluth/Twin Cities.  His residency training was at Duluth Family Medicince where his speciality was family medicine.

Dr. Huotari founded BlueSky Health in the Fall of 2006.  He started his own Primary Care clinic because he wanted to pursue his professional interest of applying engineering principles to healthcare systems; standardizing the care across a system bettering the doctor/patient relationship.  He wanted to start a Patient-Centered Medical Home that provided direct access eliminating barriers in receiving quality care.

His personal interests include being outdoors in the weather with his family doing something aerobic.  He personally enjoys cross country skiing, biking, and running. 

PeriAnn Wasie, NP

Diagnosis, Disease Management, Prevention, and Procedures

PeriAnn Wasie is an Upper Peninsula native who grew up nearby in Ontonagon. She attended Northern Michigan University where she obtained her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing in 1994. After working as a registered nurse in the Marquette area, she returned to NMU and obtained her Master’s of Science Degree in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2005. Upon graduation, she was awarded the Clinical Excellence Award and was named the Outstanding Graduating Graduate Student for the Nursing Department at NMU. She is Board Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is licensed by the State of Michigan.

PeriAnn’s personal interests include healthy eating, daily exercise, homemaking, sewing, gardening, reading, raising three great kids and spending time with her husband.

Leanne Nordstrom

Support Staff

Leanne Nordstrom is from Atlantic Mine, MI. She attended Michigan Technological University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Scientific and Technical Communications with a concentration in Marketing. She is currently working on becoming certified as a Wellness Coach. Upon completion of this certification she plans on coaching individuals interested in making lifestyle changes toward living a healthier, happier, and well balanced life.

Leanne’s personal interests include reading, healthy living, working out, interior painting and decorating, traveling, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends.

Andrea Taglione

Pre-Medical Volunteer Student

Andrea Taglione is a fifth-year Michigan Tech student from Hancock who is working toward dual degrees in Biological Sciences and Exercise Science. Post-graduation, Andrea is planning to study medicine; her interest stems from a long-time desire to help others as well as from her belief that a healthy body is key to a happy life. Andrea’s other interests include undergraduate research, involvement with Michigan Tech’s first-year Orientation, and serving the community through her work with Standathon and HERCULES, a volunteer emergency response group.

Eric Sturos

Pre-Medical Volunteer Student

Eric Sturos grew up in Calumet MI and is currently attending Michigan Technological University. He will be starting his senior year as a Mechanical Engineering major in the fall of 2010. Eric hopes to continue his education after MTU by attending medical school to pursue his doctorate in medicine. At Bluesky Health, his interests are to provide volunteer services to help the existing staff continue their high quality, patient centered health care.
Eric’s personal interests include being around his family and friends, playing competitive ice hockey, getting pulled water skiing or wakeboarding, and several other activities that involve being outdoors.
